"Love tells me I am everything; wisdom tells me I am nothing; In between the two, my life flows."

Seed Song

What is the difference between insecurity and vulnerability? What is the danger with not being able to differentiate between a real tiger and an imaginary one? Is the imagination the key to both unlocking the heart and breaking it in half?

What is the nature of need? The sufis say that need must be intensified until it becomes the longing that links human and divine.

What does this link look like? Is it like the breath, or the bond between lovers, or the knowing that passes between mother and child – like milk, like holding, like love.

It shape shifts, translates, and transforms, like beauty sealing the mouth of the world.

There is more I want to say, what all poets want to hear, of how desire stems from this root unknown like a friend, a fantasy, a fruit….and how – from that desire is born – a sense of center, like god.

And from that god, we begin, again and again, like passionate fools and wise men and innocent babes – playing all the archetypal roles until we meet the trickster and coyote that turns our problems into paradoxes, our anxiety into freedom, and our most precious self into a simple offering….
